With MyClearStep, you can setup to receive notifications via text or email if clients exceed certain weight or blood pressure parameters. To setup parameter notifications, follow these steps:
Step 1: Login to the MyClearStep Admin Portal
Step 2: Select the groups tab on the left hand side
Step 3: Under your group, scroll to the right and select the “Metric Notifications” button
Step 4: Scroll down to the metric you would like notifications for, set the parameter, and select if you want text, email, or both notifications
Step 5: Scroll back to the top and select “Save Notification Settings”
This will provide you notifications for all individuals in your group when they breach the parameters you have set.
Watch the video below to learn how to calibrate the scale:
Great question! The lights on your MyClearStep scale are designed to keep you informed about what’s happening with your device. Each color and flashing pattern represents a specific status. Here’s a breakdown to help you understand what you’re seeing:
- Both blue and white lights are on: The battery is installed, but the scale hasn’t yet calibrated to zero. Step off the scale and wait a moment for it to reset.
- Solid blue light: Your scale has successfully connected via Bluetooth.
- Slow flashing blue light: The Bluetooth is trying to connect, but the reference zero point hasn’t been found yet.
- Solid white light: Bluetooth is not connected yet.
- Slow flashing white light: The scale isn’t connected via Bluetooth and hasn’t found the reference zero point. Make sure the surface is stable and try again.
- Fast flashing white light: Your battery is low and needs to be replaced soon.
- Fast flashing blue light: The scale has detected a weight that exceeds its maximum capacity.
- Fast flashing blue and white lights together: This indicates an abnormal communication error. Try restarting the scale and reconnecting.
- Fast flashing blue and white lights alternating: Your scale is in firmware upgrade mode.
*The above light indications apply to new MyClearStep scales only. If you are using an older model, these light indicators do not apply.
A: This message indicates that our innovative AI-powered tool has detected a potential weight manipulation technique, such as water loading or hidden weights. This tool enhances weight monitoring accuracy and supports better clinical decision-making.
Q: How does the tool work?
A: MyClearStep identifies potential weight manipulation by analyzing irregular changes in body composition metrics. This advanced algorithm allows us to look beyond just weight data to detect patterns suggesting manipulation.
Q: What should I do if I believe the message appeared by mistake?
A: If you think the message was triggered in error, please ask your client to follow these steps:
- Step on the scale for 2 seconds.
- Step off the scale for 2 seconds.
- Step back on the scale to complete the measurement.
Q: How does this tool improve clinical decision-making?
A: By detecting potential weight manipulation, this tool ensures more accurate weight data, allowing clinicians to make better-informed decisions regarding their patients’ care and treatment plans.
Q: Who can I contact for further assistance?
A: If you have additional questions or require support, please reach out to our customer service team. We’re here to help!
MyClearStep’s proprietary algorithm—referred to as both Scale Manipulation Trigger (SMT) and User Manipulation Trigger (UMT)—is a breakthrough in remote weight monitoring. This smart technology doesn’t just record weight; it analyzes patterns and detects signs of intentional manipulation, providing clinicians with more accurate, trustworthy data.
Whether it’s unusual fluctuations, inconsistent weigh-in timing, or behaviors like water loading or scale tampering, the algorithm silently monitors for red flags that traditional scales and even clinicians may miss.
Q: SMT vs. UMT: What’s the difference?
A: While they refer to the same core algorithm, the distinction lies in focus:
SMT (Scale Manipulation Trigger) tracks scale-based anomalies—irregular data that may indicate tampering or manipulation.
UMT (User Manipulation Trigger) highlights user behavior patterns that suggest attempts to distort weigh-ins.
Together, SMT/UMT is a powerful tool for early intervention, clinical insight, and protecting data integrity in the treatment of eating disorders and beyond.
Q: Who benefits from this technology?
A: Clinicians, caregivers, and treatment teams benefit from more reliable weight data, while patients receive care based on accurate insights. SMT/UMT is especially valuable in eating disorder treatment, where trust and precision are critical.
Q: Does this replace clinical judgment?
A: Not at all. SMT/UMT enhances clinical decision-making by providing additional context and alerts. It’s a supportive tool—like an extra set of eyes—helping clinicians intervene earlier and more confidently.

Users can sometimes be confused about specifying both a username and email for their account. The username field must be unique and not already taken by any other accounts. A username may be an email address, but it can be any text as long is it is 8 characters or more. The email field is simply for contact purposes and does not need to be unique. In other words, it’s totally fine to make multiple accounts with the same value for the email field, as long as each account has a unique username.
